I read an article about the world’s first ship tunnel to be built. Norway has had an issue with ships trying to navigate the treacherous Stadhavet Sea. Plans have been on the drawing board for years to come up with a solution to the problem of getting cargo ships through in a safe, timely manner. They decided to tunnel under the mountain where the sea would be quieter. It will take millions of dollars and about four years to complete.
Life’s journey can be just as difficult. Have you had a dream for years with no solution as to how to achieve that? Big dreams take big plans and time. Your obstacles may take creative, out-of-the-box solutions to overcome them. I have felt like all that I do will fail. That I won’t ever see the light of the day on the dreams I have. Have you thought that maybe your dreams are just dreams and will never come fruition no matter how many plans you’ve tried to implement in order to succeed? Struggle, though, is part of the process. Instead of seeing things as failures, picture them as things that just didn’t work. Sit down, reevaluate, and learn new things. Move forward and keep going.
That’s how Afternoon Social is coming to fruition. I’m taking parts of things that didn’t work and putting them together in new ways to make something that does work. I’m reading more again and participating in online groups, retreats, seminars, etc. Learning things that I never knew existed. Learning to do things that I didn’t think I could do. One step, one piece at a time.
What does your pathway look like today? Can you see the path you’re on or is it muddled with storms? Does it seem treacherous? Do you feel like pulling into port to wait out the storm, but when it does calm down, do you stay docked or do you put your ship back out to sea? Take one thing today that you don’t think you can do and find a solution. Challenge yourself to learn how you can accomplish it. If you can’t figure it out don’t worry, just try again tomorrow.
Time to share: Share a milestone you have accomplished and how you did that. Or share something you are struggling with, so we can give you some suggestions to hopefully help you get pointed in the right direction.
