It was service Sunday and my first Sunday back to church after surgery. My mind was racing trying to figure out what I could do as I was still struggling a little from recovery. God whispered in someone’s ear to suggest something I never thought of doing. I was asked if I wanted to clean some toys. Of course, I said yes as that would be something easy I could do. She brought the toys, tub of soapy water, rags, and set up a table. Everything I needed. No need for a racing mind, just a little faith.
I was settling in to do the task at hand, and suddenly I had a little helper. And, her name was Faith. She jumped right in to cleaning those toys. Just like doing dishes; she washed and I dried. We were soon joined by a toddler. She crawled up on the table and got into the soapy water. She washed her legs and then she drank a little. Oh, the look on her face when she realized that wasn’t just water! We started laughing about how she was now clean inside and out.
Just as Jesus said, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed….nothing will be impossible for you.” You can still serve no matter your limitations. God has a job for everyone. I received a little faith in more ways than one. And the job was no longer just a job to serve, but a fun adventure.
You can have the smallest of faith to move the biggest of mountains. So, where will you serve today? Are you listening for that little whisper?
Dear God, thank you for giving me a little faith. Please show me more ways that I can serve you knowing that even with a little faith, nothing is impossible. Amen.
